Hi, my name is Janine. I'm the owner and manager of Express Beauty. Let me tell you a bit about myself. I trained at Clydebank College and Caledonian University for 3 years and qualified with an HND, at age 21.
I started my business in the mid 90's after working full time for 3 years in a beauty salon in Jordanhill, Glasgow. I really enjoyed running the salon along with my colleague and gained lots of experience. My boss at the time had herself started out as a mobile beauty therapist and also employed another therapist too before deciding to take on her own salon, she still continued to offer home visits for weddings only, and passed that added role on to me. I found I really enjoyed getting out of the salon at the weekend, travelling and meeting new people.
Eventually I decided to become self employed as a mobile beauty therapist - I chose the name Express Beauty. While building my business, I also worked for the social work dept and Alzheimer Scotland doing home support. I found it slightly challenging but overall, very rewarding work. However, in time I had enough clients to focus solely on my beauty business.
I took a career break when I had my daughter and then studied Art and Design at Midmills Campus which was brilliant. I also enrolled at Moray College for a Fine Art degree. While I was delighted to be accepted onto a Fine Art degree I soon realised that it was not for me. I was unable to commit to it fully as my daughter needed my attention and I found that I really missed running my beauty business.
So I began to build the mobile Beauty back up, continuing with my artistic pursuits when I could. More than 2 years ago I became a mother again and moved home since returning back from my maternity leave, I have been steadily building my business back up since April 2016 and have qualified as a Microblading Brow Technician. My main appointment times are - Monday Tuesday & Thusday afternoons and weekends I can accommodate different times if plenty of notice is given.
